Social Technology aimed at promoting the quality of teaching and learning, with special emphasis on literacy in Language and Mathematics (children aged 6 to 8 years old)
Current Status
In 2025, we resumed the activities of the Synapse Teacher Training Course in 15 Brazilian municipalities across 6 states, offering classes from both the Basic and Advanced modules.
Structured into 8 modules, this free course uses the Synapse Methodology, which combines knowledge from the field of Neuroscience applied to learning with real-life experiences of public school teachers in their classrooms.

Historic
Synapse is a Social Technology in the field of basic education, created in 2010, aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning in Portuguese and Mathematics for students in the early years of Elementary School in Brazilian public schools.
Created in 2010 collaboratively with teachers from the public school system of Santa Luzia do Itanhy (SE), the Synapse social technology consists of a methodology aimed at improving the teaching of Portuguese and Mathematics in the early years of elementary school. The initiative combines neuroscience applied to learning with teaching practice to strengthen literacy, using contextualized teaching and lesson planning guided by learning objectives. Since 2019, the methodology has expanded nationally through the Synapse Network, a non-profit organization that, supported by strategic partners and THP, ensures the project's sustainability through ongoing teacher training and the constant updating of its teaching resources. In 2025, three new pedagogical workshops were developed to improve the skills of teachers who have already completed their studies and those who are still in training. These activities were implemented in the states of Sergipe, Minas Gerais, Pará, Rio Grande do Norte, Maranhão, and Paraíba, demonstrating the Synapse Network's continued support for the project's participants. The new version of the Pedagogical Notebook was distributed to all participating states, benefiting a total of 690 people. Currently, the notebook has seven versions: a digital version specific to each state where the methodology is applied and a national version. We emphasize that the national version brings together knowledge and contributions from teachers in all states, while the state versions present materials created by teachers in their respective territories. This material can be accessed on the Synapse Network website. We highlight that this was a year of great achievements and strengthened partnerships between the Synapse Network and its teachers. As part of these actions, the team promoted the Synapse Network Award, an initiative that brought together and valued educators from the six states served by the methodology, recognizing those who excelled in its application in the classroom. The event represented an important moment of recognition for the good pedagogical practices developed by these professionals.
